A female geriatric patient sustained a proximal humerus fracture and was initially treated non operatively. Past medical history was significant for osteoporosis. After a year, she presented to the office complaining of pain and discomfort. X-rays revealed a non-union of the humerus fracture. The patient was treated operatively with an IlluminOss implant with plate and screws.Alignment was achieved by placing the plate along the humerus with screws outside of the intramedullary canal. A small incision was made, an IlluminOss implant was inserted, filled with liquid monomer, and cured with visible light. At2-months post op, x-rays showed bone consolidation and patient reported no pain and full range of motion in her shoulder.
