Case Illustration: Periprosthetic Distal Humerus Fracture - 82-year-old Female

The patient is an 82-year-old female who suffered a distal humerus fracture after a slip and fall. Her past medical history was significant for type 2 diabetes and of total shoulder arthroplasty with revision 5 years prior. The patient was treated operatively with a combined construct to allow early range of motion. After gaining reduction of the fracture, a small posteriorly base incision was made. The canal was reamed to provide space for the implant to inflate. An IlluminOss implant was inserted, filled with liquid monomer, and cured with visible light. Attention was then placed to supplement fracture fixation with a unicondylar plate with fixation through the implant. At 3-weeks follow up, the patient was instructed to weight bear as tolerated and allowed to use her walker.
