Case Illustration: Radius & Ulna Fracture - 90-year-old Patient

A 90-year-old patient presented with an open distal multi fragmental fracture of the radius and ulna after a fall. Past medical history was significant for multiple co-morbidities including osteoporosis and ischemic colitis. The fractures necessitated fixation and were treated operatively through a small incision in the distal radius and ulna. The IlluminOss implants were inserted, filled with liquid monomer, and cured with visible light. A plate and screw construct was then placed in the radius with screws extending into the hardened IlluminOss for support. The patient was placed in a cast splint for continued support.
