Case Illustration: Proximal Humerus Fracture - 64-year-old Female - 2 Part Proximal Humerus Fracture

A 64-year-old female with a history of end stage renal disease and diabetespresented with a 2-part proximal humerus fracture with significant extension.The patient was unable to tolerate conservative management due toextensive pain after 2 days, and the decision was made to treat her operativelywith a closed reduction and placement of IlluminOss. A small incision wasmade, reduction was affected with the aid of traction provided by an assistant,the implant was inserted, filled with liquid monomer, and cured with visible light.At postoperative day one, the patient’s pain was significantly improved. At 2-weeks post op, reduction was maintained, and the patient had no complaintsof pain.
